This standard sets forth requirements and test methods relative to the mixture of xylenes. The mixture of xylenes is used mainly as a solvent in paint and varnish industry.

The mixture of xylenes should be transparent, colourless liquid, without mechanical impurities.

Sampling and preparation of the average laboratory sample should be made according to PN-EN ISO 3170.
The average laboratory sample should be 2000 cm3. The average laboratory sample should be divided into two parts: one part should be used for testing, the other one should be kept for the purpose of arbitration analysis for the period of three months from the date of the batch shipment.
A batch of goods is the contents of one xylene mixture tanker shipped to one address, with one accompanying certificate of quality.
A batch of xylene mixture should be considered as conforming to the standard if all the test results meet the standard values. In the event the results do not meeting the standard values, the test with a negative result (i.e. not meeting the standard value) should be repeated with one random sample. If the result is negative again, the batch should be rejected.
All specified limits in this standard and calculated results should be interpreted according to PN-70/N-02120.
For each batch of the goods the manufacturer shall prepare and send to the customer the certificate stating that the product meets the standard values.
Packing group: III
Packaging types: all design types in accordance with RID and ADR regulations with UN certification sign.
Retail containers labelling - label containing the product and manufacturer identifying details and the following symbols and captions:

Store only in certified, properly labelled, tightly closed containers, in the flammable fluid storage room equipped with explosion-proof ventilation and electrical installation. Prevent containers from being heated. At the storage area obey the prohibition of: smoking, using open flames and sparking hand tools.
Xylene may be stored in storage tanks in accordance with the valid regulations.
The material is subject to regulations on the transport of dangerous goods.
